Behind the artist:
Mark licensed his first design age 16, a birdhouse designed for a school project. He studied Industrial Design at Brunel University and graduated in 2019. During this time he was chosen as ‘1 of 10 emerging talents to watch’ as a result of work partaken parallel to his degree. His study : ‘The Application of Phase Change Materials in Furniture’ was exhibited at DesignJunction during London Design Week 2017 in partnership with luxury watch brand RADO.
Following his studies, Mark worked in a diverse range of creative roles across the world in Amsterdam, Cambridge, Guangzhou, Jakarta, London & Shenzhen. Much of this initial career work focused on growing DFM knowledge inside factories in south East Asia. Work ranges though Lighting, Furniture, Decor, Sculpture, Space, Sound, Phygital, FF&E, Interior, Archiviz, Graphic and Brand Design. Mitchell’s designs are unusual. This is because he plays in Physics and Psychology, two juxtaposing subject fields. His creative process is as poetic as it is scientific.
